Mom and Dad

Well, they're gone for another year. I hope you enjoyed your NS vacation, and I'm glad you made it back to Sudbury safely. Hopefully we get to see each other at a wedding soon...

Camping!

This past weekend I went camping with the Guides one last time. We had a great time, and the weather was awesome! Our unit and another unit went together, so we had a nice group of girls. Here they all are, smiling pretty for the camera on Sunday morning. We went to Camp Mush-a-Mush, which is the camp I grew up going to. It still looked as nice as ever. The lake was beautiful, and the camp is really well maintained.
We went on a hike along the water, and stopped along the way for some lunch. We're pretty hard core for a group of ladies!

A few of the leaders relaxing and enjoying our beautiful Saturday.
Here's where we cooked and ate all our meals. There are so many neat ways to cook food outside.
Kim, who was one of the leaders from the other unit, and who I also just happen to work with at Redwood. As you can see, she is a little wet from our Saturday activities.

Since it was almost 30 degrees and sunny on Saturday, we nixed a few of our planned activities and set up a slip and slide for the girls. They had a blast!
Susan, smiling pretty.
Our third year girls going to collect more water. They weren't allowed near the lake so we had to go with them to get the water for them.
Loon Island, which now appears to have a waterslide set up on it. I wonder who owns it? Whoever it is, they're lucky.

There were plaques all over the camp in memory of my grandmother, who did a lot for the camp when she was alive. This was on a picnic table.

More slip and slide!

The girls were soaked, and loving every minute of it!
We had a bit of thunder and lightening on Friday night, so we decided to sleep indoors to be on the safe side. The leaders slept in this lovely new cabin.

The girls divided themselves up between these two, older cabins.

The mess hall.

Some pictures that I randomly snapped around the camp. This chapel is named after my grandmother.

Our campsite.

The outhouse that thirty girls and leaders shared for three days.

Just kidding. We had indoor washrooms.

Great times, great weather. I'll miss the girls!

Our last meeting

It's a little bittersweet. I'm ready for a break from Guiding, but I'm going to really miss the girls. Here are some pictures from our last meeting of the year - and potentially my last ever.

There were way too many girls missing that night due to spring concerts and stuff. Luckily all the graduating guides were there.

They look so innocent and adorable. Yeah right!

Me and Caitlin, who is like a little sis to me now.

Google

I just discovered something cool. Mom told me that when my name gets Googled, my blog shows up. So I Googled myself, and some of the top websites that showed up were my blog, Kristi's blog, and Cari's blog. I'm excited!

Happy Anniversary!

Well, it's officially May 28 in Australia, so Happy Anniversary Cari and Steve! Just another excuse to post beautiful wedding pics!

Happy Birthdays!!!

Yesterday we had a birthday party for my Nanny's 80th birthday. It was a bit of a family reunion, with people from my family, Craig's family, Mark's family, etc. Here we have my family, Craig's parents, Mark's mom, Griffin, and of course Nanny. Here we have all of my dad's side of the family.
Craig and Griffin looking handsome.
The food.
My mom and Craig's mom. Happy birthday to my mom today, May 21st!
Nanny, looking adorable in her new dress. She definitely does not look 80!
Nanny cutting her enormous cake.
Me, Craig, Griffin, and the purple crocs.
Mark and Nicole, who need to get this wedding thing rolling.
Nanny's massive cake. Yummy!

Random Update

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm very excited for Cari and Steve who will be getting their dog back tomorrow (well, tomorrow in Australia). You guys must be so excited! You'll have to videotape and post the reunion. I'm sure it will be dramatic (I like Kristi's idea of the slow motion/Jesse's fur flowing in the wind image).

On a depressed note, what the heck is up with the weather here? Last week it was 30 degrees out and everyone was walking around in summer clothes. This week we're going to be lucky if the temperature gets past 15 degrees. And those poor New Brunswickers who got like 15 centimetres of snow yesterday. Is this is by-product of global warming? Where's Al Gore when you need him? Cari - I'm coming to Australia!

On a happier note, congratulations to Mike and Suzanne, the latest parents-to-be.

The Joys of Teaching

Adrienne and Tracy, I told you I would post this picture. This is after our graduation rehearsal and the wine and cheese. I think Tracy had a little more wine than cheese! But teachers are supposed to be a little crazy, right?

This is my tribute to math teachers everywhere (I don't own any of these jokes, so nobody get mad at me please). I absolutely love these, and wish that all marking could be this entertaining:
